Thinking of what to get your wife or girlfriend for Valentine’s Day? Flowers and jewelry are safe bets (what girl wouldn’t want a gorgeous diamond pendant?) but they’re…boring. If you really want to swoon over how thoughtful you are, then put some thought into your gift. Give her something unique, special and memorable. Here are some ideas for Valentine’s gift ideas.
Bed and breakfast getaway
This is a gift that both of you will enjoy. Never mind the noisy and crowded restaurants. Drive off to a secluded bed and breakfast, where you can have some real quality couple time. Many places also offer wine tours and nature walks—although if you play your cards right, you’ll probably have plenty of things to do right in the bedroom.
Couple cooking class
It’s sweet, it’s fun, and it tells your wife or girlfriend that you’re willing to share the kitchen duties. This is waaay better than a one-time candlelit dinner for two, especially if you promise her that you’ll practice your new-found cooking skills at least once a week, so she can have at least one night all to herself. She will love you forever. Promise.
Ah, what every woman needs: full day of pampering! Many spas also offer couples’ packages so you can get a massage, facial, or even a pedicure and manicure too. At the end of the afternoon you’ll both feel, fresh, sexy, relaxed—and definitely in the mood!
A couple portrait session
Schedule a session with a professional photographer and get beautiful couple shots that you can frame and hang in your home, or proudly carry in your pocket. Or, another alternative is to bring an existing couple photo to an artist and have it rendered in watercolor or charcoal.
A magazine subscription
Women love magazines. Pick one that’s related to her interests and hobbies (like a photography magazine if she’s in love with her new DLSR). Better yet, get her several. You can also look into online subscriptions, or getting her an e-book reader and filling it with downloads that you think she would like.
Ask her what she wants!
Tell her, “Babe, what is one thing that you want but would never buy for yourself?” If she won’t tell you, consider calling her friends and asking what she talks about. Maybe she’s raving about a particular bag, or has been waiting for a particular pair of shoes to go on sale. Get it for her!
